TV Advice

We're in the market for a new TV. What are our "must-haves" in a new TV?

Well, for starters it has to have a full screen. Currently when we watch ESPN, the TV cuts off the scores at the bottom. I'm not kidding.

It also has to maintain the same volume on every channel. Meaning I don't want to turn it up to level 20 on HGTV, then have to switch it to level 4 on Food Network.

Not looking for anything CRAZY expensive...you get what you pay for, obviously. We paid $125 for our current TV. So, we're willing to spend a little bit for quality. Do any of you tech-savvy bloggers out there have words of wisdom for TV purchases? Brand, HD, plasma, flat-panel, screen size....let me have it! I'm totally stupid when it comes to all the possibilities for such an important purchase. E-mail me or leave a comment...

Hi Jessica - I happen to have recently done some detailed shopping with a friend for a new television! I'll put together some thoughts for you.

I have a 3 month old 42" widescreen plasma that is yours for $1000. Add to it a 5 full-size surround sound speaker set, a 12" Sony powered subwoofer, and an platinum finish Omnimount Stellar plasma display stand with two big glass shelves and you got yourself a deal for $1500.

You probably read we just got a new one. We got a Mitsubishi 57 inch DLP. Basically if you get a big plasma you will pay a gazillion dollars so, go with a DLP if you want big. Ours is a 1080p which is better than a 720p. We got ours at Weathers in downtown Edmond. Go there just to get educated. They are great and very easy to work with. They have free delivery, set up, surge protector, extended warranty (2yr) and they will come fix it on site instead of having to mail it in. Sorry this is so long, talk to Kyle at church and he will tell you all about it. :)
